I havn’t really like a ‘punk’ band fronted by a woman since I was 16/17 and got really into Tsunami bomb. But this record is excellent. (its A Common Place by Libyans if you can’t read the stupid small writing.)
Its difficult to compare this to anything as it is really melodic and the singer actually sings in places, but that should definately be treated as a positive. The production is alot cleaner than I’d usually like from a punk rock record but it has a stripped down 80’s vibe that just lets you enjoy the songs for what they are rather than having to fight through layers of feedback and noise. Theres nothing that particularly jumps out at you when you listen to this, its not really fast, really heavy and it isn’t musically the best thing ever. Listening to it though you feel like you’re listening to a great record and every time you listen to it you notice more and more about it that you like.
